Joan M. (Patton) Hoffman

With profound love and reverence, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Joan M. (Patton) Hoffman, who went on to be with the Lord on November 12, 2025, at the age of 93.  

Born on January 17, 1932, in Larksville, PA, Joan was the daughter of the late Robert and Rose (McGill) Patton.  Joan was preceded in death by her loving husband, Edward F. Hoffman, with whom she shared 44 years of marriage.  

Joan lived a life filled with faith, love and service to others.  A devout Catholic, she was a member of St. Martha’s Church and dedicated her life to God and her family.  Joan and her late husband proudly owned and operated the former Rosedale Tavern in Hanover Township, where they built many lasting friendships and memories within the community.

In her spare time Joan enjoyed cooking, fishing and playing cards; she will be remembered for her warm heart, strong work ethic and devotion to her family.  Her legacy lives on through the traditions she passed down and the love she shared so freely. 

Joan was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Eileen Hoffman, and her son, Kevin Hoffman.  She is survived by her children: Edward (Maryann) Hoffman Jr.; Robert (Janet) Hoffman; Joanne (Norbert) Dotzel; George Hoffman; Peter (Thomi Lyn) Hoffman.  She was the proud grandmother of fifteen grandchildren, and great-grandmother to twenty-four great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.  She is also survived by her sister, Rose Pickett.

Family and friends are invited to attend viewing hours on Friday, November 14, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. and again on Saturday morning beginning at 9:30 a.m. at Piatt Funeral & Cremation Services, 6 Sunset Lake Road, Hunlock Creek.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 10:15 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Martha’s Church. Interment will follow in St. Martha’s Cemetery.

Joan will be lovingly remembered for her kindness, her love of family, and the many happy memories she created with those who were fortunate to know her.
